IEEE NPSS VIT student chapter is successfully functioning in the university with an aim
of advancing nuclear and plasma sciences. The chapter, to impart the knowledge regarding
nuclear sciences to the students, conducted ‘Save Hiroshima!’, a quiz-based event which tests
the participants’ knowledge of Nuclear Science and Disaster Management in exotic ways.
Event took place on 12th February, 2016 between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM in the classroom of
Technology Tower, VIT University.
Event started with 40 enthusiastic participants who filled the classroom. The event head from the chapter welcomed the participants and briefed about the quiz. In the first round, questions related to nuclear science were displayed with timers which were answered by participants individually. Then, teams were formed randomly; two(2) in each team. One quizmaster was allotted for three teams. Quiz masters conducted the buzzer round and evaluated the team performances.
The whole performance of participants was calculated based on the above rounds and sixteen(16) participants were promoted to the final round. Meanwhile, there was a presentation of ‘Startling Facts’ by the members which attracted the participants.
Final round was conducted for promoted participants who were divided into four(4) teams. Then a real juicy quiz began! Participants competed to answer the questions excitingly. The questions ranged from the evolution of nuclear energy to the disaster case-studies. The team which got the highest points is declared as the winning team and the participant who answered most questions was declared as the winner.
Exciting prizes were given to the winner and the runner of the quiz competition. Immense involvement of participants was seen during the whole event. Event-lead leaded all the quizteam successfully. Participants expressed their excitement for future events of the chapter and gave overall positive feedback in the concluding feedback session.
